NetApp CEO steps down

Long-time CEO of NetApp, Dan Warmenhoven, is stepping away from daily operations as Tom Georgens takes over as the company's top executive, reports Channel Web.

Warmenhoven has held the CEO role for the past 15 years, and is continuing his role as chairman of the board of directors, and also is assuming the role of executive chairman, a newly created position.

Georgens, who joined NetApp in 2005 as executive vice-president and GM of enterprise storage systems, has been president, chief operations officer and a board member since February 2008.

IT analyst leads GSA unit

Veteran IT analyst and former US Government Accountability Office official has been appointed to lead the General Services Administration office (GSA) in charge of interacting with the American public, states Nextgov.

David McClure will take over as associate administrator of GSA's Office of Citizen Services and Communications. The office manages the portal to federal Web resources, USA.gov, and its Spanish-language counterpart GobiernoUSA.gov.

McClure says: "This is an unprecedented opportunity to fulfil president Barrack Obama's goal of a more citizen-centred government that is transparent, participatory and collaborative.”

Tele Atlas signs on CTO

Tele Atlas, a subsidiary of TomTom, has appointed Aref Matin as chief technology officer, according to TMCnet. Matin is also appointed a member of the Tele Atlas executive team and of TomTom's technology board.

In his new role, Matin will be responsible for developing and managing the company's technology and product , strategic research and advanced engineering. He will report to Tele Atlas CEO, Bill Henry.

Matin most recently was with RealNetworks where he was CTO of technology, products and solutions. Prior to that he held senior technology leadership positions at Millennial Net, Juniper Networks, Siemens and AT&T Bell Laboratories.
