NetCom Solutions SA, security partner of Tripwire, Inc and reseller of the Tripwire product in South Africa, announced a new security product release from Tripwire for Web Pages. The product can detect unauthorised Web page changes and prevent the page from being viewed until it is restored to its former condition.
"Hactivism" is on the rise with an increasing number of Web site attacks fuelled by social activism, protest, or political motives. Until now, there has been no mechanism to assure that a Web page is in a known good state. Tripwire for Web pages now extends robust Tripwire data and network integrity protection to Web pages hosted on Apache Web servers. Tripwire for Web Pages software verifies the integrity of Web pages residing on a Web server. It monitors all pages leaving the site and quickly detects any changes. Immediately on detecting altered Web content, the software replaces it with a customisable "temporary unavailable" notice that is served to the requesting browser. Immediate detection enables you to minimise financial loss, public embarrassment, or downtime due to hacked files.
If a hacker (from outside or inside an organisation) is able to get through existing security measures and alter Web page content, Tripwire for Web Pages logs the event to file, pipe, socket, CGI script, syslog, and/or SNMP mechanisms. Customised notifications scripts can be easily integrated to notify administrators via e-mail and automate actions to remedy the problem. Instant notification capabilities reduce downtime and enable you to quickly curtail potential damage to pricing, product, or corporate revenue loss.
While Web site content can be changed without the company knowing, Tripwire for Web Pages notifies you and provides the data you need to get back in business with minimal damage, downtime, or disruption.
