NetEx, a provider of software-only WAN optimisation solutions, has entered into an agreement with Workgroup IT to distribute its HyperIP WAN optimisation software throughout SA and the Sub-Sahara region.

The company says this is to satisfy increased demand for improved replication and accelerated file transfers within virtualised environments.

Workgroup services the IT channel from its national branch infrastructure situated in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Windhoek. “This international agreement follows recent partnerships with distributors in Australia, Turkey, Germany, the UK and Ireland,” NetEx says.

As the software distributor in SA, Workgroup IT is well positioned to deliver software products to a diverse customer base, the company says.

NetEx VP of business development and marketing, Robert MacIntyre, says partnering with Workgroup brings its business additional exposure, especially of its HyperIP to an even larger world market, helping them to increase mindshare and grow profits.

“We have extensive experience working with global organisations to help them make the most effective use of their WAN bandwidth and meet production-time windows,” he says

Being part of Workgroup's virtualisation portfolio will ensure that companies in Africa will have access to this same level of optimisation and acceleration as those in other parts of the world, helping them to continue technical innovation while leveraging the value proposition that HyperIP provides, he adds.

The virtualisation business unit manager at Workgroup IT, Willie Jansen van Rensburg, says by offering a way to minimise WAN latency over distance in virtualised environments, “we are able to add value to our portfolio by providing a solution to companies facing conditions that can negatively impact their computing infrastructure.”

NetEx HyperIP is an ideal way to extend the functionality of virtualisation and one that I believe will be well received by our customers, van Rensburg adds.

HyperIP is a software-only, virtualisation-ready WAN optimisation solution, ideal for moving large data sets across WANs securely, swiftly and seamlessly, NetEx says.

“Patent-pending technology accelerates and optimises data replication and file transfer applications by aggregating multiple data replication applications over a shared connection while mitigating the inherent network latency and network disruption for long-distance remote TCP data transmissions,” the company points out.

HyperIP will enable Workgroup to deliver the software-only WAN optimiser to customers operating in virtualised environments, NetEx says.

HyperIP can be rapidly deployed as a virtual server appliance on commodity hardware and has been validated in independent testing to accelerate VMware VMotion WAN transfers by a factor of 10x and Microsoft Hyper-V Live Migration by up to 16x.

NetEx offers HyperIP for cloud infrastructures as a software-only configuration, enabling customers to quickly deploy the acceleration software into their existing VMware infrastructures.
