Duxbury Networking has announced the arrival of the Netgear EVA700 Home Entertainer. The Home Entertainer is the first Intel Viiv technology-verified digital media adapter, allowing media streaming from personal computers to televisions and home theatre systems.
Viiv is Intel's new technology that powers home entertainment computers designed to transform how consumers manage, share and enjoy digital media in the forms of movies, television series, music, games and photos.
The Digital Entertainer enables users to access digital videos, music and photos stored on Intel Viiv technology-based computers via their home network. In the future there are plans to also deliver digital media content via the Internet using the Viiv Zone to users of Viiv-based computers.
Other Intel Viiv technology features supported by the EVA700 include the ability to wake a sleeping computer from the Digital Entertainer and simplified device set-up via Intel's Hub Connect technology, which requires the additional use of a Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router (WPN824), a product which has also been Viiv-certified.
The Digital Entertainer is connected to the home network using either cabled Ethernet, wireless connectivity or Netgear's Powerline HD Ethernet Adapter Kit (HDXB101) to stream high quality video across multiple rooms in the house to ensure hours of uninterrupted video playback.
The EVA700 is also designed to be user-friendly and easily integrate into the home without complicated setups or difficult to learn functionality. The device features an intuitive user interface, accessed on the television, that enables browsing of digital movie, video, music and photo files using a single remote control.
In addition to Intel Viiv technology based-computers, the Digital Entertainer also supports access to content on standard Windows XP personal computers through Windows Media Connect as well as other media servers. The Digital Entertainer can stream content via the home network from the Netgear Storage Central (SC101), associated with a PC, and many USB storage devices such as flash drives, digital cameras and iPods. With its smooth, burnished platinum casing, similar in size to a standard DVD player, the Digital Entertainer is a stylish addition to entertainment system cabinets.
"The Digital Entertainer brings your digital media into the home entertainment environment without having to understand complicated connection methods or using out-of-place computer boxes in the lounge," says Graham Duxbury, managing director of Duxbury Networking. "The EVA700 looks great alongside your other home entertainment devices and is easy to use for the whole family, bringing photos, videos, and other music from the computer to your TV."
