At a recent function in Johannesburg, Duxbury Networking, the distributor of Netgear networking products in South Africa, unveiled the new 2011 range of offerings targeted at enterprise applications.
At the themed event, billed as the launch of 'networking solutions that hold water', the Duxbury Networking team introduced the latest elements in the Netgear ProSafe business-class range, now featuring a lifetime warranty, to its authorised resellers and dealers.
In his introduction, Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking, said Netgear continues to place emphasis on product reliability and security in the design of its new range, which is targeted at small to medium-sized business networks.
“Netgear products are housed in practical form factors, protected by durable metal cases and enable easy expansion and phased upgrades to support South Africa's growing business networks,” he said. “With a focus on innovation, they are designed to extend the limits of the corporate network with a number of new connection possibilities set to redefine coverage and speed benchmarks.”
Among the new business products launched by Duxbury Networking were Netgear's ProSafe advanced smart managed gigabit switch, ProSafe wireless management software and the ProSafe wireless management system. In addition, the wraps were taken off Netgear's new UTM5 Unified threat management appliance and two ReadyNas network attached storage solutions.
Also showcased was the new Netgear ProSecure security appliance, said to provide around 200 times more virus and malware coverage at speeds up to five times faster, thanks to the use of new 'stream scanning' technology.
Robb took the opportunity to introduce Netgear's 'green programme', initially designed to meet the requirements of the US Energy Star initiative, where it has achieved Level IV efficiency for all its external power adapters. “All Netgear offerings carrying the Energy Star logo are designed to reduce energy consumption and help limit greenhouse gas emissions,” he added.
