NetSource offers improved data throughput modem solutions

products distributor NetSource will offer Gandalf`s recently announced Remote Access Concentration (RAC) software which increases throughput by up to 50 percent and enable easy upgrades by supporting Microsoft Extended STAC, Ascend STAC and Gandalf`s 100 Mbps Ethernet functionality. The software is free of charge for customers using Gandalf`s Xpressway and XpressStack products, and is currently shipping.

"In addition, Gandalf soon plans to offer within a single Xpressway chassis up to 240 simultaneous analogue modem connections through a simple system upgrade," noted Clem Coleman, product manager at NetSource.

"As its first move, Gandalf has standardised on the K56flex modem protocol jointly developed by Rockwell and Luccent Technologies to support its flexible, modular Xpressway and XpressStack 1AS concentrator and server families.

"Gandalf`s 56 Kbps offerings, combined with their support of Microsoft`s implementation of Stacker LZS compression, will give modem users the highest performance available on the market today. Gandalf customers can easily upgrade their modem performance because the modular design enables them to simply slip in new interface cards to increase central site modem capacities and achieve this new speed," said Coleman.
