Netsurit scoops top SMME ICT Achiever Award

Johannesburg, 15 Dec 2008

Netsurit, South Africa's largest managed outsourcing IT provider specialising in small to medium enterprises (SMEs), has won the Top ICT SMME in Africa Award, an award that recognises entrepreneurial giants in the IT arena.

Celebrating its 10th year anniversary this year, the 'African ICT Achievers Awards' is the brainchild of specialist ICT research company, ForgeAhead, in partnership with the Department of Communications, the State IT Agency and EOH.

According to Dorothy Haggard, Sales and Marketing Director at ForgeAhead, African business leaders across the continent are invited each year to nominate those individuals and organisations they believe are worthy of recognition for their achievements through the use of ICT.

“Since its inception in 1998, the African ICT Achievers Programme has built a strong foundation of recognition and reward for those ICT individuals and organisations that have made a difference to the ICT industry in Africa.

“Netsurit has proven its achievement in business excellence, innovation, entrepreneurship and has touched the lives of others less fortunate. The company has proven that its interaction continues to leverage technology to make a difference in the small and medium business enterprises in the African economy,” says Haggard.

Orrin Klopper, founder and Managing Director of Netsurit, says the whole team is honoured to receive such a prestigious award, and he says it gave him the opportunity to thank many government dignitaries, including ex-President Thabo Mbeki, for the continued funding and support his company has received throughout its existence.

“I am very passionate about entrepreneurship and the role that small and medium business enterprises play in the South African economy. Netsurit is a proudly South African company and the core of our business is to empower this market through technology and enable them to achieve their business objectives. To win an award like this gives me renewed confidence in our strategy and what Netsurit is trying to achieve,” he adds.

Throughout 2008, Netsurit has received several awards, the most recent being the Microsoft Citizenship Initiative Award, which recognised Netsurit's efforts in training and development of underprivileged students and teachers in the Gauteng area.
