Associates claims that the recently launched Gauntlet 5.5 is the first firewall with integrated virus scanning, VPN and content screening management.

Gauntlet 5.5 showcases cross-pollinated Network Associates including McAfee virus scanning, PGP VPN and content filtering, all managed from one central console.

Touted as the first firewall in the market to integrate virus into one firewall security solution, Gauntlet 5.5 uses McAfee virus scanning to defend against Web, e-mail and Internet virus threats.

Network Associates announced immediate availability of Gauntlet 5.5 on both NT and Unix platforms, with additional features it claims will expand content security, optimise performance and increase firewall manageability for companies securing their e-businesses.

Gauntlet firewall customers can also choose strong PGP encryption and authentication technology as part of an integrated Gauntlet package.

Available as part of the Gauntlet Active Firewall, the Gauntlet VPN server provides server-to-server VPN encryption and is also able to act as a server to IPSec-compliant clients like Microsoft Windows 2000 or the company`s own PGP VPN desktop application.

In addition to realising the added benefits of data encryption and authentication tools, Gauntlet Active Firewall customers can also choose to install Event Orchestrator, a rapid-response system that automatically correlates, detects and acts upon firewall vulnerabilities to eliminate administrative overhead and automatically optimise network security and availability.

Gauntlet firewall 5.5 is available immediately, either as a standalone product, or as a component of Network Associates` integrated security suites.
