The Succession Communications Server for Enterprises Multimedia Xchange (CSE MX) is the latest offering in the Succession Enterprise product family from Nortel Networks.
CSE MX is a network server communication platform that delivers voice over IP (VOIP), multimedia applications and productivity tools on a VOIP virtual private network (VPN) connection.
Converged networks that combine voice and data services on a single, cost-saving infrastructure are the result of applying Internet protocol (IP) technology to traditional voice communications. This gives businesses the opportunity to combine voice and data over the same networks, with exceptional benefits.
"For the network, it offers efficiency, performance and cost savings. For business users, it provides multimedia applications that enhance productivity and enrich the customer experience - ultimately driving business growth and staying ahead of the competition," says Sirshem Moodley, Chief Technical Officer, Nortel Networks, South Africa.
The CSE MX is an IP-based communications server that enables the development and delivery of multimedia applications across any access medium, either on wired or wireless networks. It integrates voice, data and video services and supports open, standard protocols, fully complementary with existing Nortel Network products such as the Meridian 1 PBX, the CSE 1000, CSE 2000 and the Business Communications Manager. The open standards also allow integration with other systems.
This can remove barriers of distance and location to deliver rich, multimedia collaborative applications that can drive powerful customer and employee communications and enable new ways of conducting business. Built-in security features protect the network against external intrusion or internal unauthorised access.
Networks equipped with CSE MX are future-proof and geared for the introduction of upcoming multimedia services that bring productivity, mobility and personalised applications to business, to improve the way businesses work, think and compete.
The applications include high-powered collaboration tools, video conferencing, audio and video streaming, live whiteboard sharing and file exchange facilities.
Instant messaging is also covered, as well as the full range of telephony functions, including call redirect and call forward, conference calls, call hold and waiting. The CSE MX server allows real-time call management and has built-in mobile access abilities for wireless networks and remote access situations.
The most relevant aspect to the modern business is that CSE MX is a cost-effective, fully scalable solution, which provides any degree of service sophistication to business networks of any size - from SME to enterprise.
The server can be deployed as a new system or easily integrated into any existing Nortel networks solution and has already demonstrated a reliability of 99.999% in the field - greatly reducing the visible and invisible costs of downtime.
The immediate advantages include wide-ranging improvements in productivity and the cost savings resulting from running a simple, integrated network. The CSE MX server is also hardware-independent, using Nortel Networks open standards to minimise cost of ownership. With its flexible range of abilities to converge voice, data and multimedia onto a single network architecture, the CSE MX server is the next-generation answer for growing businesses of any size to improve performance, cut costs and stay ahead.
