Networking skills shortage to continue

Increasing adoption of various technologies, especially those outside of traditional core routing and switching, is creating a skills gap in the market, says eChanneline.

An IDC white paper, sponsored by Cisco Learning Institute, found that there is a 60 000-person shortfall in the supply of networking talent, and the skills shortage is expected to continue through to 2011.

Although there is a skills shortage in all areas of networking in North America, including routing and switching, the biggest shortages are in what Cisco Systems refers to as "advanced technologies", which includes , , unified communications, video, etc.

Trimax Wireless introduces broadband router

Trimax Wireless has announced it is shipping the TMAX 3000 Series wireless broadband router, reports Market Watch.

The TMAX 3000 is a three-radio modular platform in a rugged outdoor enclosure that can be configured with a variety of radio modules and antenna options to optimise network design.

The TMAX 3000 Series is part of a complete line of wireless broadband infrastructure products from Trimax Wireless including base stations, core routers such as the TMAX 3000, and edge nodes.

Tecore, EGC partner

Tecore Networks, a leading provider of GSM, CDMA, 3G and multi-protocol mobile networks, and EGC International, a global systems integrator specialising in telecoms and IT, have announced an agreement that enables EGC to distribute Tecore's wireless infrastructure products throughout Latin America, writes Albawaba.

EGC's presence in eight Latin American countries and its deep relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 mobile operators, in combination with Tecore's 17-year track record in delivering core and radio access network solutions across all major wireless technologies, ensure that this growing marketplace now has access to the most powerful wireless networking solutions in the industry.

Similar to other global regions, Latin America continues to experience aggressive adoption of mobile communications, with over 350 million subscribers. With overall teledensity at approximately 20% and markets facing mandated build-outs, innovative and cost-effective infrastructure options provided by Tecore and EGC are an ideal fit for the region, they say.
