NetWorld+Interop 99 Atlanta conference program provides new tools & strategies for the networking revolution

Johannesburg, 10 Aug 1999

NetWorld+Interop (a ZD Events production) has announced that industry experts, technologists, authors and visionaries will lead its newly designed educational conference series at NetWorld+Interop 99 Atlanta. The event will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center, September 12 - 17.

"Our mission is to provide the most in-depth, focused, and valuable professional available for the enterprise and service provider communities," said Leonard Heymann, vice president of content for NetWorld+Interop. "In our effort to serve a constantly expanding industry, we`ve developed several new highly focused programs. These new programs will not only offer even more in-depth information on specific networking, telecommunications and challenges and developments, but will also be designed as a forum for the open exchange of ideas and the building of community amongst these various professional groups. In addition, our new InteropNet Labs program offers attendees a unique hand-on component to their education that can`t be found anywhere else."

At the core of the NetWorld+Interop educational program is a series of two-day tutorials and full-day workshops. These programs span the entire week of the event, and will feature the world`s foremost networking and telecommunications experts addressing complex and specific challenges through sessions focused on many topics including Internet Fundamentals; Switched Internets; Access (Wireless, Fast Packet, Cable); Security; Business and Network Strategies; Integrated Data, Voice and Video; and NT.

Executive Interop will begin on Monday September 12th, and will offer three days of high-level content for CIOs and other top networking decision makers facing the challenges of preparing their enterprise networks and application platforms for the age of e-commerce. Executive Interop is co-produced by the Yankee Group, sponsored by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and Forbes magazine, and will feature Rich Karlgaard, publisher of Forbes as a special speaker.

NetWorld+Interop 99 Atlanta`s General Conference will take place Tuesday, September 14th through Thursday, September 16th. The conference will feature five tracks and 35 sessions, and is designed to provide networking professionals with the latest information on the core public and private networking technologies driving the industry today, as they work to plan, implement and operate enterprise or service provider networks. Tracks will include: Access Technologies and Services and LANs and Switching, IP Futures, Security, Network Management and Policy, Internet Applications, and a special session focused on home networking.

Service Provider Solutions, an EXPO COMM conference sponsored by Telephony magazine, will take place on Monday, September 13th and Tuesday, September 14th and will offer an industry forum in which ISPs, CLECs, NSPs, IXCs and ILECs can gain valuable insights into emerging service opportunities such as application hosting, security and e- commerce, and analyze the key issues that impact the building of the new multi-service public infrastructure. Tracks include Network Applications, Access Services and Technologies and Network Management.

Network Forensics Day will provide cutting-edge solutions that address today`s most challenging network management issues such as performance analysis, application response time, security intrusion detection, and improving service levels. This new one-day program, to be held on Monday, September 13th, is specifically designed for network troubleshooters and will be led by Bill Alderson, founder of the Pine Mountain Group. VPN Day, sponsored by InternetWeek and Network World, will also be held on Monday, September 13th, and is a hands-on seminar that will address the most critical business and technology aspects of virtual private networks (VPNs), including, secure remote access, secure extranets and quality of service (QoS). The most unique aspect of this one-day conference is that attendees will have the opportunity to test these new technologies in the InteropNet Labs (iLabs).

Optical Day will offer attendees the opportunity to take part in exclusive demonstrations of new optical networking technologies through the iLabs, such as DWDM technology and gigabit ethernet. Sessions will focus on the state of optical networking and optical transmission, optical cross-connects and switches, buying and selling optical bandwidth and optics in the local loop and LANs. Optical Day will take place on Wednesday, September 15th.

Voice over IP Day will be held on Thursday, September 16th and is sponsored by InternetWeek and Network Computing. This one-day conference presents another hands-on opportunity for attendees to gain all the knowledge and tools they need to successfully integrate data and voice traffic over the same infrastructure. Enterprise and carrier professionals alike will benefit from seminars on digitization and compression and wide-area transports, from case-studies and from iLabs demos.

The NetWorld+Interop conference and exhibition experience brings together key industry and technology experts to help clarify the increasingly complex networking industry, enabling attendees to successfully transform their businesses in order to take advantage of the new e-conomy.
