For companies requiring business telephone systems that give them the access, availability, applications and scalability essential to succeed in today`s competitive business environment, 3Com has announced the new 3Com SuperStack 3 NBX Networked Telephony Solution.
"Replacing traditional PBX systems, 3Com is meeting customers` business telephony requirements for increased flexibility and cost savings with a reliable system that is simpler to use and maintain, " says Maurizio Zussa, new business development manager for 3Com SA.
"3Com`s voice solution will help users manage their operations efficiently, improve customer relationships, economise on costs and enhance overall productivity," he says.
"We have seen high growth opportunities for LAN telephony solutions in a number of South African market sectors, but particularly at the top end and within the MMICC - Multi Media Customer Interaction Centre market - one of the fastest growing segments in the digital economy," Zussa says.
"The market already indicates that customers are moving away from legacy PBX systems and investing in open, IP-based solutions. Sales of traditional voice systems are shifting in favour of IP PBX solution sales.
"With the SuperStack 3 NBX system, we have the most advanced business telephone system that will enable 3Com to capitalise on this burgeoning market."
Built on a standards-based, open architecture, the 3Com SuperStack 3 NBX operates over a shared or switched Ethernet. Regardless of the customer`s existing LAN environment, the SuperStack 3 NBX can be installed easily, reducing integration risks and costs. As a result, a customer`s investment or upgrade in network infrastructure benefits both voice and data services using the 3Com NBX convergence model.
Zussa says the SuperStack 3 NBX system is the most reliable for scaling users across networks and applications. The new system includes an enhanced call processor, gateway chassis, new business telephones and complete 10/100-network infrastructure support.
The SuperStack 3 NBX system scales to 750 devices with a maximum of 360 lines, 500 concurrent calls, 100 auto attendant ports and 400 hours of voice mail storage. In addition, the system includes resilient 10/100 uplink ports, redundant power supplies and mirrored hard drives ensuring that high levels of resiliency are maintained at all times.
This latest addition to 3Com`s NBX product family provides a full range of voice features that meet the varied needs of customers, from basic to advanced system sophistication, to advanced applications and more worktop choices, as well as the ability to scale from 2 to 750 ports per location.
The new SuperStack 3 NBX business telephones support 10/100 Mbps and include enlarged displays, along with an infrared port that syncs with personal digital assistants. "PDA user`s will be able to select contact telephone details, and dial the appropriate number from their PDA. With these new system enhancements, 3Com is giving its customers improved system functionality," Zussa continues.
"The SuperStack 3 NBX system is designed to solve the business problems customers face today as well as in the future. We`re expanding our proven, reliable NBX platform to offer customers a solution that will scale easily as the company grows and help our customers be more efficient and productive," Zussa adds.
According to Synergy research, the IP PBX market is expected to grow to over $3 billion in 2005. Last year 3Com secured 52.1% of the US IP-PBX systems market in the first half of the year.
The Phillips Group, a prominent professional services, research, conference and publishing firms serving an extensive blue-chip client base in the global telecommunications, cable, satellite and Internet marketplace, cited 3Com Corporation as the leading IP PBX vendor for the second quarter calendar year 2000.
