A new 3G broadband wireless router has been launched by Duxbury Networking from its principal, Netgear.
Dubbed the Netgear MBR624GU, it allows users to wirelessly share 3G broadband connections and create instant WiFi hotspots at remote locations by plugging in a compatible 3G USB modem.
“The unit is targeted at remote-site applications, including construction sites, satellite offices, at special events or where DSL cable is not available,” says Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.
“It is also ideal for use where 3G broadband access is used as a back-up or alternative to DSL cable, particularly in home or home office applications,” he says.
Key features of the new wireless router include its ability to connect multiple clients and a built-in firewall to boost security and offer denial of service prevention.
In addition, the router is equipped with Netgear's Energy Star power adapter package designed to reduce energy consumption.
