Acer Africa raises the bar on servers with the launch of its Acer Altos G610, an affordable server equipped to manage everyday business needs and adapt to rapidly changing competitive environments.

"The Acer Altos G610 is a scalable server for business applications ranging from server-centric environments like Windows 2000 server, Windows NT, NetWare and UNIX to Internet and intranet environments."
The G610 is designed to meet the specific needs of network environments for the demanding medium sized businesses and departmental or branch office. The product`s dual Intel Pentium III processors, with 256 KB/512 KB second level cache and internal speeds of 1.13GHz/1.26GHz, ensure fast performance, even with demanding applications.
Its U160 SCSI dual channels and PCI slots provide room for growth, while up to 365GB of HDD storage in five hot-swappable HDD trays ensures higher flexibility and various RAID configurations.
The Altos G610 also has six PCI slots, of which four 64-bit slots offer support for the latest PCI cards as well as being able to support existing hardware via 32-bit PCI slots.
In terms of system memory, the product has 4 DIMM sockets that support 128/256/512 and 1024 MB and are expandable up to 4GB (1024MB x 4). It also features a 8MB SDRAM graphics memory and 512KB Flash ROM.
"All connections are network-ready and Acer`s customised OS installation utility ensures the system fits seamlessly with the existing network," Haefele continues. "Acer`s bundled management solution includes ASM Pro hot-swappable and redundant power supplies," he concludes.
