Netgear's new TV adapter allows users to watch pictures, streaming videos and TV signals held on or accessed via a laptop PC, on a large format TV set in high definition.
Released by Duxbury Networking, the South African Netgear distributor, the PTV1000 Push2TV device allows the laptop to wirelessly 'push' content to the TV screen using standard WiFi 802.11g technology.
“The TV should be equipped with HDMI or Composite AV input ports and the laptop requires a 2010 Intel Core Processor-family CPU,” explains Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.
“Thus equipped, users will be able to stream online video, TV and movies from any Web-originating source, giving them access to a wealth of content that can now be viewed by more than one observer on a modern HDTV set. No more crowding around a small laptop screen,” he adds.
The Netgear PTV1000 Push2TV is a small, lightweight and easily portable unit.
