Molex Premise Networks is now able to offer a complete solution for wall and trunking outlets with the combination of fibre for data needs and copper for voice applications. The Fibre Management Back Box provides accommodation for direct termination or splicing of up to eight fibres and / or copper connections as well as storage space and cable management for spare fibre.
Fits all UK standard surface mount back boxes and EuroMod face plates
Ideal for fibre-to-the-desk and wireless LAN applications
Multi-media capability
In military and other high-performance, high-security applications, the use of fibre-to-the-desk in structured cabling systems continues to grow. In some parts of Europe, including Germany, Sweden and Norway - FTTD is already used widely in the commercial sector. The new back-box from Molex Premise Networks is the first designed for convenient expansion of the network from copper to fibre-to-the-desk, with minimum disruption.
The Fibre Management Back Box can be secured inside a UK standard 32mm wall box with a 50mm x 100mm aperture EuroMod face plate. Used on its own, it offers the ideal solution for hidden applications, such as connection of wireless LAN transceivers to a fibre network.
The new box is compatible with industry standard SC and ST fibre adapters, and in the future, will be compatible with small form factor adapters such as the MTRJ and LC.
Installation as well as moves, add and changes (MACs) of fibre networks are simplified by the Fibre Management Back Box which provides storage of up to eight metres of 900(m buffered fibre, maintained at the correct bend radius. The design allows the use of fusion splicing to terminate fibres when they are installed. Additionally, if a fault should occur on an individual fibre, fusion splicing can be accommodated without having to pull more cable from difficult-to-access floor or roof voids. Internal mouldings secure up to eight fusion splices neatly and securely inside the box.
For multi-media applications including both fibre and copper-to-the-desk network interfaces, the Fibre Management Back Box supports a mix of fibre and Category 5e unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable connections. The module is compatible with Molex Premise Networks` PowerCat EuroMod connector, for voice and data transmission on most currently ratified Ethernet protocols, including Gigabit Ethernet.
