New BenQ LCD monitors now available through Annex

Johannesburg, 18 Apr 2005

BenQ, international provider of digital lifestyle technologies and robust solutions, has released a range of new LCD monitors, available to the local market through its distribution partner Annex.

In keeping with the focus on enhanced digital lifestyle product, the latest models - the FP737S 17" LCD with 16ms response time (black & silver), the FP767S 17" LCD with 12ms response time (black & silver) and the FP937S 19" LCD with 16ms response time (black & silver) - represent meticulous attention to technology that demonstrates exemplary internal performance balanced with stylish external presentation.

BenQ calls this technology Senseye human vision technology, based on three advanced image processing engines: Contract Enhancement Engine, Colour Management Engine and Sharpness Enhancement Engine. These components have been designed to automatically improve image quality and offer the viewer a deeper, richer and clearer viewing experience.

BenQ mainstream 17" LCD monitors are up to 250 nits and contrast ratio is 500:1. The viewable size is larger than that of the 17" CRT monitor and meets a demand for high performance, large screen requirements. The Auto calibration feature refers to the product`s `Auto Adjust` function which enables the user to modify the phase, vertical and horizontal position automatically.

Ergonomically, this model is about 40% the depth of a regular CRT with the equivalent screen size, ideal for environments where space is at a premium.

"Developers have focused on ease-of-use, ergonomic and aesthetic value and output," comments Chris Anderson, BenQ product manager at Annex Distribution. "This is a new and exciting addition to our digital lifestyle product line, easily configured, set-up and managed to suit a broad market. The picture quality and end result offers value to gaming enthusiasts, home and work environments."

The BenQ Group is comprised of ten companies that operate autonomously while sharing resources and leveraging synergies among them. The Group`s LCD monitor global distribution is being reinforced through the efforts of one such company, Taiwan-based TFT-LCD panel producer AU Optronics Corporation. A recent DigiTimes Daily IT News report indicated that the company shipped 2.33 million large size panels in the past month, equivalent to a growth of almost 30% sequentially.

"There is a strong market demand internationally for this technology offering, we see definite potential in the South and Southern Africa market. The depth and strength of the digital lifestyle is still a major driving force behind delivery and innovation at Tier 1 recognised brands," adds Anderson.
