New bizhubs small in size, but big on features

Johannesburg, 24 Oct 2007

Bidvest Group company, Konica Minolta South Africa (KMSA), has introduced the new bizhub 211/163, two highly productive, compact MFPs with advanced network features and respective copying speeds of 21 and 16 pages per minute (ppm).

KMSA copier division manager Paul Symonds says both devices are targeted at the SOHO market and small workgroups. "Small business offices generally require space-saving digital equipment that can handle all their copying, printing, scanning and faxing needs in one machine.

"The bizhub 211 and bizhub 163 cost roughly the same as single-function copiers, but include printer and scanner functions for increased performance," he says.

These devices offer a wide range of basic functions to ensure efficient office operations. In addition, they have a variety of optional features for greater functionality such as the five-stage cassette capability that enables continuous feeding for large-volume jobs, and the multiple bypass tray that allows for versatile paper feeding. Double-sided copying is also available as an option for the bizhub 211.

Several other options add network and communication functions, such as network print output, PCL print, Super G3 faxing, Internet faxing and Scan to E-mail.

With the bizhub 211/163 information can be shared, which helps improve workflow. Both devices highlight scanning features that convert multiple copies of documents into electronic data with the Automatic Document Feeder*, saving document storage space and cost. Documents can easily be shared within a work group by sending scanned data to a shared server (Scan to FTP*).

The new models feature universal design for easy use and a new control panel with a four-line backlit LCD, arrow menu keys and a flappable one-touch key menu that greatly simplifies operation to increase efficiency.

Symonds says these nifty and productive machines reduce total cost of ownership as central machines for small to medium-sized businesses. "They may have a small footprint, but they have the potential to change the way many SOHOs and small workgroups operate," he says.
