The latest Toshiba business projectors are now available with a "blackboard" function which allows images to be projected onto a coloured surface.
According to Andre Rossouw, a technology specialist and Toshiba brand manager at Rectron - the local distributor of Toshiba PC and projector products - the blackboard function is ideal for users who do not have access to a projection screen or white wall.
"For sales and other professionals on the move, there are often occasions when circumstances dictate that presentation conditions are less than optimal.
"Toshiba is catering for this with the incorporation of a blackboard function in its new Toshiba TDP range of offerings. With this function, when images are projected onto a coloured wall, the image colour can be adjusted to contrast with the wall for a clearer presentation," says Rossouw. He notes that the projector makes allowances for five different "wall colours" in its menu selection: green, black, brown, beige and "original" or white.
He says a complementary feature found on Toshiba projectors is two-way keystone correction which effectively compensates for times when the projector cannot be placed directly - at 90 degrees - in front of a screen or wall.
"In these circumstances, the image is adjusted and focused correctly to allow for this anomaly," he says.
In addition, Toshiba projectors make allowances for situation in which the projector has to be placed closer to the projected surface that would be considered ideal by allowing for a 4:3 projection ratio - which effectively enlarges the image in relative to the distance of the projector.
"What`s more," says Rossouw, "new Toshiba projectors can now display two signal inputs at the same time, and each screen can be selected and interchanged easily using the remote control.
"Freedom of movement is also encouraged with the units` wireless and networking feature. When linked via a wired LAN connection and integrated IEEE802.11 b/g interface, a single projector can be connected to more than one PC, allowing greater functionality - and more innovative solutions," he adds.
