New boss at Tiscali

Johannesburg, 19 Aug 2003

Italian-born Diego Massidda has been appointed CEO of Tiscali SA, replacing Graeme Victor.

Victor resigned as Tiscali`s MD in April, after heading the company for two years. He has subsequently become CEO at JSE-listed Global Technology.

In the interim period Tiscali`s business was overseen by an executive committee to which each business unit`s general manager reported.

Tiscali SA is the local subsidiary of Italian-headquartered communication company Tiscali.

Massida worked as a civil engineer in Johannesburg from 1990 to 1995 before spending a year in France earning an MBA. He then spent six years in Italy as a senior manager at management consulting firm McKinsey.

"We have both local knowledge and direct access to the best technology from Europe," he says.

"Our chief advantage in SA is that we are small and nimble. We will grow our existing consumer and mid-corporate markets but also address small to medium-size corporate clients, who collectively account for a significant chunk of our business growth."
