Siemens Southern Africa has appointed Pete da Silva as its new country chief executive.
Having filled the position of chief executive of Siemens Southern Africa for 10 years, Dr Klaus D"oring will hand over his responsibilities to Da Silva on 1 March, but will remain on the board of Siemens Limited as non-executive deputy chairman.
During his tenure as chief executive, he was also president of the Southern African German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a member of President Thabo Mbeki's Big Business Working Group, the SA Foundation and the Business Trust, and will continue with some of these duties.
Da Silva joined Siemens in 1977 and became COO of Siemens Telecommunications in 1988 and CEO in 2002.
He will be succeeded by Dr Jan Mrosik, who will fill the position of CEO of Siemens Telecommunications.
