Altron subsidiary Powertech will have a new CEO from the beginning of next month, after Norbert Claussen stepped down in May, after 16 years with the group.
Neil Kayton, former CFO of Power Technologies (Powertech) has been appointed to take over from Calussen. Altron also announced that Leon Viljoen will become COO of Powertech.
Powertech focuses on electrical and electronic equipment used for the creation, management, distribution, storage and use of electricity. The company has five operating divisions: Cables, Transformers, Batteries, Industrial and Systems Integrators.
Kayton joined Powertech as CFO in February 2004, and is a member of the group directorate and other subsidiary boards within the Powertech group. He started his career with accounting firm Ernst & Young where he completed his articles, before being employed as financial manager at Universal Recycling Company - a member of the Cape Gate Group of Companies.
Before joining Powertech, Kayton occupied the FD position at international pharmaceuticals company AstraZeneca.
Viljoen is a member of the Powertech board and CEO of Powertech Transformers, which is currently the largest contributor to the Powertech group's earnings. Viljoen is an electrical and electronic engineer by training and has been with Powertech for over two decades in various management capacities.
Altron CEO Robert Venter says the listed group's board believes Kayton and Viljoen have excellent attributes that will complement each other in leading the Powertech group. “They have both been with the group for some time and understand the intricacies of the power electronics sector. We look forward to seeing them take the group to new heights.”
