CA, the world's leading independent IT management software company, has announced the attainment of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO)/IEC 20000-1:2005 and ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certifications for its global IT operations.
CA Southern Africa is the sole representative of CA in sub-Saharan Africa.
Gary Lawrence, MD, CA Southern Africa, says this is a notable achievement as only an elite group of global organisations have attained this accolade.
“This development attests to CA's leadership in IT service management and information security. It also serves as an endorsement of the company's commitment to the highest level of security and service for all stakeholders,” says Lawrence.
CA's Global Information Services team worked for six months on procedure and documentation auditing, and on-site compliance verification. The certifications were accomplished through an independent audit. These accreditations build on the company's existing ISO 9001 certification.
“For an organisation to function effectively it has to identify and manage numerous linked activities. Co-ordinated integration and implementation of the service management processes provides ongoing control, greater efficiency and opportunities for continual improvement,” adds Lawrence.
ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 promotes the adoption of an integrated process approach to effectively deliver managed services to help meet business and customer requirements.
Lawrence notes that ISO/IEC 27001:2005 is the management system standard used to address information security. “This leading-edge framework helps organise information security processes and evidence subsequent actions in a format that allows companies to implement security controls that can be customised to meet specific needs.”
