The use of technology as a strategic enabler is key to Mutual & Federal achieving its goals, says new CIO Jonathan Golding.
Golding, recently appointed at the short-term insurer, has been involved in IT in the financial services industry for 35 years.
"We are a broker-oriented company and our IT infrastructure must enhance the cost-effectiveness of our business partners as well as ourselves," he says. "Enhancing service to the broker community via the network is an important driver for future operations."
The implementation of business process management and business intelligence is at the top of Golding`s agenda.
"An objective is to create an IT operation that assists in the integration of business strategies and drives down costs. Current strategies also include the ultimate provision of straight-through processing," says Golding.
Straight-through processing is a process where data has to be captured only once and will be available to the relevant parties, he adds.
"As a short-term insurer we would like to dominate the channels within which we operate and see IT as paramount to achieving this."
