New company backs skills building

Develop SA has officially opened its doors as a local document production and management company in Johannesburg with the backing of Bidvest.

The new business is part of Develop GmbH, an office communications solutions company headquartered in Germany, with operations in 56 countries across the globe.

According to Develop SA's GM, Marc Pillay, the company is heavily focused on skills building and training, as well as mentorships and providing a platform for development within the enterprise space locally.

“Document production and management is a lucrative industry seeing exponential growth worldwide. It presents multiple revenue streams that are sustainable and prospects of even bigger growth opportunities,” says Pillay. “With Develop SA we are bringing a different brand to the market with a different idea to develop and employ South Africans, particularly black entrepreneurs.”

At the centre of Develop SA's operations is an owner-operated franchising model, which Pillay believes is perfect for giving local entrepreneurs the ability to grow a business as well as personal business skills.

The company is also looking for entrepreneurs and small companies to become part of the Develop SA initiative as a franchise and take advantage of the skills transfer, training and mentorship opportunities.

“By using these resources, we hope to coach and develop black entrepreneurs specifically, teaching them how to run their own businesses and, ultimately, strengthen the local print, copy, fax and scan market,” Pillay adds.

Bidvest's backing comes in the form of supporting the selected individuals and companies with business mentorship, product and sales training, industry insight and both technical and accounting guidance through partnerships with Oc'e and Konica Minolta and in conjunction with Develop SA.
