Specialist IT solutions provider LAW Holdings (L@W) has launched an independent company, L@Wtrust, to meet the growing need for trusted third-party services and application security in the South African marketplace.
L@wtrust will enable businesses to automate their processes safely and responsibly by providing positive identity, privacy, non-repudiation and proof of delivery. The company has invested in sophisticated trust centre infrastructure, which operates a public key infrastructure (PKI) service and secure, guaranteed-delivery e-mail. Other solutions include strong authentication mechanisms, enterprise PKI solutions and document security. All solutions are based on the tenets of information security best practice: authentication, access, control, privacy, integrity and non-repudiation.
LawTrust MD Christi Peens says the role of the trusted third party is complementary to L@W`s business as the leading provider of electronic information to South Africa`s legal, banking, property and credit sectors.
"Our solutions ensure that sensitive information, such as that involved in litigation, mergers and acquisitions or confidential financial matters, can be quickly and securely sent and worked on via the Internet," she said.
L@Wtrust chief technical officer Maeson Mahery says the foundation of the new company`s offering is the ability to prove the identity of the originator or recipient of any electronic communication by means of strong authentication or digital certification. "South African businesses can no longer afford to compromise on electronic security, especially in light of the requirements of the Electronic Communications Act and the new Privacy Bill," he said. "Without a mechanism that can positively identify an individual, privacy or non-repudiation is simply not possible."
L@wtrust is the official distributor for Nasdaq-listed Entrust Inc, a world leader in securing digital identities and information; for Norwegian e-mail security pioneer eNotarius; as well as for SA document security specialist Intelliform.
