Specialist application service provider LAW Holdings (Pty) Ltd (L@W) has established an independent company, L@Wtrust, to meet the growing need for trusted third-party services and application security in the South African marketplace.
LAW Holdings director Trevor Coppen said L@Wtrust was being launched to meet the growing demand for digital identity, strong authentication and reliable, confidential electronic messaging.
The role of the trusted third party is highly complementary to L@W`s current business initiatives. L@W already provides services to more than 1 700 attorneys. The creation of L@Wtrust therefore strengthens L@W`s presence in the current customer base with additional value-added services and also opens the door to other professional and business communities.
"Our market needs a reliable, independent and cost-effective service that provides positive identity in transactions, privacy, non-repudiation and proof of delivery. L@Wtrust ensures that sensitive information, such as that involved in litigation, mergers and acquisitions, or confidential financial matters, can be quickly and securely sent - and worked on - via the Internet," said Coppen.
L@Wtrust - which is a 100% subsidiary of LAW Holdings - will be the official distributor for Entrust SSL certificates, from Nasdaq-listed Entrust Inc, within the South African market.
"We selected Entrust as our partner, not only because of their strong verification process and trusted security, but because of the value they provide. In terms of cost benefit there is nothing to match Entrust in the South African market," said Coppen.
Christi Peens, Managing Director of L@Wtrust, said SA businesses could not afford to compromise on security of communications; however, the lack of cost-effective solutions had been a barrier to entry until now.
