Johannesburg, 17 Oct 2001

Compaq`s Industry Standard Server Group (ISSG) has announced new additions to its industry-leading portfolio - the next-generation small business servers ProLiant ML350.

Reinforcing Compaq`s commitment as server solution provider with a new on-demand program for ProLiant servers. The ISSG is continuing to enhance the Compaq ProLiant brand for server customers by announcing additions to the ProLiant family for both small business and enterprise customers.

Says Jeffery Yu of ISSG at Compaq South Africa: "The Compaq ProLiant ML350 G2 delivers affordable performance and essential availability to corporate workgroups and growing businesses that demand expandable, easy to own tower and rack solutions. The ProLiant ML350 G2 is the latest price/performance dual-processor server from Compaq in an expandable tower or rack format, with essential availability featuring hot-pluggable hard drives and hot-pluggable redundant power supply."

The new 2-Bay Ultra2/Ultra3 SCSI drive cage is Compaq`s latest option offering and is capable of expanding the internal hot plug storage capacity by simple installation into the removable media area of ProLiant ML300 series servers. With this product, customers can maximise the performance of their RAID set spanning more drives or to mirror their OS. Running on a separate channel also allows the use of an Internal Hot Plug Tape Drive on a separate channel without sacrificing performance.

Also featured is the Console Management Controller (Locking Kit) Designed to manage data centres remotely and on-site. The CMC offers intrusion detection, temperature sensing, ability to control optional fans via jumper cords and facilitates unattended remote monitoring. This Options Kit provides the ability to Lock and Unlock valuable racked infrastructure remotely.
