Duxbury Networking has added to its Netgear ProSecure range of data security offerings with the release of the UTM50 Unified Threat Management appliance.
Built with scalability in mind, the UTM50 enables businesses to protect themselves through a wide array of tools, including firewall, SSL and IPSec VPN, URL filtering, network anti-virus, and anti-spam solutions.
“The UTM50 is designed to guard against the growing number of virus and malware threats, dangerous Web sites, spam e-mails and hack-attacks that threaten business environments today,” says Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.
The ProSecure UTM50 - an extension of the ProSecure UTM10 and UTM25 Unified Threat Management series - integrates with Microsoft Active Directory-enabled environments for single sign-on security policies.
“This is a key requirement for most organisations,” says Robb, underlining the appliance's ability to increase employee productivity on the Internet through its URL filtering features.
“The UTM50 is effective at countering both WildList and zoo malware threats,” says Robb, noting that around 80% of these threats emanate from Web surfing activities.
“Zoo malware, which is able to mutate into new forms, is one of the most serious threats to global networks. However, it is a danger that is often overlooked by vendors of security products,” he adds.
