SAP has signed a service partnership agreement with New Dawn Spectra, a 100% black-owned ICT company and a subsidiary of New Dawn Holdings.
New Dawn Spectra's services focus on SAP enterprise management systems and providing professional consulting services. According to MD Hangi Hlomane, the company is working towards becoming a SAP alliance partner, capable of playing a leading role in SA's R10 billion ERP market.
"We are the only 100% black-owned company which offers full SAP capability at this stage," he says. "As an alliance partner, we will be recognised as a leader in the field and one which has made considerable investment in supplying services and products to SAP customers. Our partnership with SAP also includes sub-Saharan Africa, where we have aggressively engaged with clients in other countries such as Namibia."
"New Dawn Spectra has been selected by SAP because of its expertise in the public sector," says Brett Parker, director of SME and channel at SAP Africa. "As a global organisation, it is great for us to truly support a South African organisation. Getting a partnership of this nature off the ground requires significant investment and New Dawn Spectra has gone out of its way to recruit some of the best SAP skills in the country. It has developed a number of pre-packaged solutions that SAP's medium and enterprise clients in the public sector can use."
Hlomane believes New Dawn Spectra's targets are achievable.
"Our proven pedigree in the ERP market, coupled with SAP's drive into the mid-market, positions us superbly to take substantial market share. SAP's drive to upgrade its installed base upgrade to the new NetWeaver and the Enterprise Services Architecture will also play a key role in our future growth."
SAP Africa alliance manager Rebecca Mahlo says although the signing isn't the first of such partnerships, she believes it will be one of the most influential.
"The combination of a global leader and effective indigenous organisation will benefit not just the two companies, but their joint customers and the industry in which they operate."
