Extending its offering to the office document market, Xerox South Africa announced today a new series of low-cost digital multifunction products for small and medium businesses and workgroups.
The new WorkCentre Pro 428 and 423 are top of the line in Xerox`s WorkCentre Pro series of products with print speeds of 28 and 23 pages per minute (ppm), respectively. Each model prints, copies, faxes and scans.
Users can choose from a host of features such as increased paper capacity, finishing options and secure printing. The WorkCentre Pro 428 and 423 are being launched by Xerox`s Middle East, India, Eurasia, Russia, Africa (MEIERA) entity ahead of the rest of the world.
"These new multi-functional products strengthen our position in the critical 20 to 30ppm speed class, which is perhaps the most competitive part of the office market," says Mehmet Sezer, marketing director for Xerox South Africa. "These products will provide our customers all the standard features they want at very compelling prices."
More standard features than competitors
The WorkCentre Pro 428 and 423 are designed for small businesses or workgroups that print and copy in volumes from 2 000 to 35 000 pages per month. They feature a standard 50-sheet duplex automatic document feeder, 100-sheet bypass tray and 1 600-sheet total paper capacity in all configurations. They also incorporate a touch-screen interface with all key features accessible on the main menu, a feature current competitor products doesn`t offer as a standard feature.
Powerful printing and copying
Both versions print documents at 600 x 600 DPI resolution and support the PCL description language with optional PostScript Level 3 available. They are compatible with the Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0 and 2000 operating systems, as well as the Apple MAC OS when configured with PostScript. Units can be connected directly to the PC, or shared on the network, through the Network Interface Card, or the bi-directional parallel and USB ports.
Advanced network faxing and scanning
The fax option will include a fast 33.6 kilobits per second modem for document transmission speeds as low as four seconds per page, as well as 70 one-touch, 50 group and 200 speed dialling settings for easy and efficient operation. It also will support Internet fax to reduce telecommunications costs.
The TWAIN-compliant scanning module will enable users to capture documents and either store them on a network file server for general workgroup access or deliver them directly to private mailboxes for specific individuals. It will bundle powerful software to simplify the conversion of paper documents to digital form, including PaperPort Deluxe and TextBridge Pro Millenium Edition from Xerox subsidiary Scansoft, Inc, which provide image management and optical character recognition (OCR) capabilities.
Availability
The WorkCentre Pro 428 and 423 are now available in SA.
