New Dimension boosts support for OS/390

Johannesburg, 30 Mar 1998

New Dimension Software has announced enhanced support for IBM`s newest large-system operating system, OS/390 Release 5. This follows on intensive work done between New Dimension and IBM at the latter`s Vendors Centre in Dallas. New Dimension products were tested on Release 5 of IBM`s OS/390 to ensure they take advantage of all aspects of the amended operating system. New Dimension Software`s Control products, Enterprise Production Management, Enterprise Output Management, Enterprise Security Management and Enterprise Event Management solutions are part of the company`s Integrated Operations Architecture for the Enterprise (IOA/Enterprise), a tightly integrated suite of core systems management disciplines. IOA/Enterprise enables organisations to achieve timely and comprehensive implementation of business applications enterprise-wide. The four core disciplines in IOA/Enterprise extends the company`s systems management products by enabling organisations to take advantage of established and emerging technologies such as the Web, ERP applications and frameworks. A common set of services allows an integrated user interface and shared repository across the four disciplines, providing efficient cross-platform, cross-discipline management of both client/server and legacy applications. Common administration and system support results in an integrated environment with standardised procedures, facilitating the rapid deployment of systems management technologies. "Organisations increasingly rely on the mainframe to process the large amounts of data needed to make business critical decisions. IOA/Enterprise`s ability to tie together OS/390 and client/server applications makes it possible to use the mainframe in its new role as an enterprise server," says Allen Lewis, MD of Software Futures Systems Management, the South African distributor for the New Dimension range of products. "IBM`s OS/390 sets the standard for large-enterprise operating systems. We are pleased to be working with IBM to provide customers with the tools required for the mainframe to address the complexities of distributed systems, and allow organisations to maximise its performance as part of the global enterprise." IOA/Enterprise reflects the company`s continuing commitment to provide customers with more robust solutions for the enterprise. The following New Dimension Software products offer full support for and exploit the functionality of the new IBM operating system: * CONTROL-B for automated information integrity * CONTROL-D for report distribution * CONTROL-I/2000 for automated year 2000 testing and data validation * CONTROL-M for enterprise-wide production control and scheduling * CONTROL-O for automated MVS event management * CONTROL-M/Links for integrated production control and system events * CONTROL-M/Analyzer for automated production setup and analysis * CONTROL-M/WorkLoad for batch workload optimisation * CONTROL-R for automated job restart * CONTROL-T for removable media management * CONTROL-V for archive viewing
