LifestyleMD.com, a new online offering that aims to provide the health-conscious with a comprehensive online health resource, was launched in Johannesburg yesterday.
Co-founders and joint-MDs Andrea Urmann and Greg von Holdt say the e-commerce enabled site addresses a growing need for the delivery of affordable, self-help, lifestyle products to individuals, the medically insured and the corporate market.
LifestyleMD.com was developed by specialist software programming house and applications service provider, DaTo Solutions.
"Technically we have adapted business logic to set up all the different parts of the site to interact, and creating a fully functional Internet-based architecture has been challenging," says David Goodyer, marketing director, DaTo Solutions.
The site allows users to create their own wellness programmes in fitness, dietary, stress and other wellness-related areas. Additional services include the online purchase of supplements, equipment, clothing and other programme-related products.
"Within the four wellness categories, FitTtrak, NutriTrak, StressTrak, and DermaTrak, the services have been further enhanced by Intelligent software tailor-made for individual needs. This enables a customised assessment, interventions and a user-specific programme requiring input of personal information as well as any relevant medical details," says Goodyer.
