Midrand-based M-Five Software, a software distribution company specialising in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, was officially launched yesterday.
The company, staffed mainly by former Navision employees, began operations earlier this month and has a network of business partners throughout Africa.
About 60% of the company`s business is derived from operations outside SA. It also has the sole distribution rights for Hansa Financials in Africa.
The company says the distribution agreement with the M-Five Hansa resellers in Africa is unique, in that the partners generate the leads and M-Five completes the circle from needs analysis to installation and training.
Hansa international sales manager Stephen Jay says while Hansa is a Swedish company, it is legally UK-based.
He says while many other vendors offer extra functionality such as customer relationship management and e-mail, these are often different solutions that are simply interfaced.
Hansa Financials, he says, incorporates such functionality, including intranet, accounts and wide area networking, in one product.
Hansa`s approach is to put all key business data in one data file, enabling single views of data from a wide range of areas.
The company cites as an example that a credit controller can view all promises made by salespeople, open quotations, turnover by product, and progress on repairs, alongside traditional credit control information, and all associated notes, on one screen.
It is also an open platform product which operates on Windows, Apple Macintosh, Linux and others.
Jay says the range of modules is one of the most extensive on the market because of the company`s philosophy of keeping all company information in one database.
"This means that Hansa users are able to run their CRM, financial, logistic and/or industry-specific functions in one real-time, truly integrated system."
