`New for old` is 3Com pledge

Johannesburg, 03 May 2001

3Com SA has launched a marketing campaign designed to make it easier for IT managers to buy 3Com products at discounted prices.

The campaign allows for old networking products (from almost any vendor) to be "traded in" for a reduction on the cost of new 3Com offerings.

"3Com has launched the `Chequebook Programme`, a trade-up initiative to make it simpler and more affordable for customers to upgrade their network to Gigabit Ethernet for high-performance business networking," says Chris van Niekerk, country manager at 3Com SA.

He says the campaign is targeted at companies that need to grow their current network on a restricted budget.

"Trade up is often an option people overlook when replacing equipment because they think it is too complicated. In fact it is a simple, affordable way to upgrade," he says.

Central to the campaign is an official 3Com "chequebook" of discount coupons. On presenting a coupon to a 3Com reseller, a discount up to the value shown on the coupon.

This is calculated using 3Com`s Trade Up system, a tool located on the 3Com reseller extranet.

The programme, which runs until the end of May 2001, includes offers on 3Com`s SuperStack switch products, Network Interface Cards and the 3Com AirConnect Wireless LAN solution.

Chequebooks are available from 3Com resellers or from 3Com SA on (011) 700-8600.
