Computer Associates International, Inc (NYSE: CA) has announced the availability of release 2 of its Protection Suites, six fully integrated solution suites that use a common Web-based management console and an intuitive desktop dashboard to help small and medium businesses (SMBs) reduce risks, system downtime and IT management costs.
Priced and configured based on platform and size of business, CA`s Protection Suites deliver multiple layers of protection that help safeguard SMBs from viruses and spyware, backup and restore critical business information, and ensure that user settings, preferences and data are transferred accurately to upgraded or new PCs.
"The rigorous protection of data and IT systems is critical for SMBs, which face tight staffing and other resource constraints," said David Luft, senior vice-president of SMB product development at CA.
"By providing the industry`s most streamlined and easy-to-implement solutions for security, backup management, and systems migration, CA`s Protection Suites enable SMBs to implement the protection they need within those resource constraints - so they can focus on their business, rather than on managing technology."
The second release of CA`s Protection Suites features a new Web-based management console that allows SMBs to centrally manage data protection tasks, users, policies and reports. The graphical dashboard simplifies all anti-virus, anti-spyware and data backup and migration operations. A user-friendly post-installation checklist helps protect servers and ensure client-side software is deployed to all desktops and laptops. A single installation process eases set up and configuration and automates compliance with backup policies.
"With CA`s Protection Suites, we can easily monitor backup status, get an overview of virus alerts, check our licensing status and more - all from the same easy-to-use console," said Peter Wallace, IT manager, AAA Reading-Berks in Wyomissing, Pa. "Having a single install and all of these management capabilities in one place takes the complexity out of IT ownership."
The Protection Suites available today are:
* CA Desktop Protection Suite for protection of data on users` desktops and laptops.
* CA Server Protection Suite for protection of centrally stored and managed data.
* CA Business Protection Suite for protection of both server- and desktop-resident data.
* CA Business Protection Suite for Microsoft Small Business Server Standard Edition for SMBs using or planning to implement the standard edition of Microsoft`s Small Business Server.
* CA Business Protection Suite for Microsoft Small Business Server Premium Edition for SMBs using or planning to implement the premium edition of Microsoft`s Small Business Server.
* CA Protection Suite for Midsize Business for Windows for SMBs managing 50-500 PCs using Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, Standard Edition; and Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005, Workgroup Edition.
"The new version of CA`s Business Protection Suites is the easiest and most comprehensive data protection solution that we have used," said Craig Tempest, technical director, Fibrecity Ltd, a CA reseller based in Leeds, UK.
"The new Web-based management console enables users to effortlessly execute their key administrative tasks and respond more quickly to critical issues as they arise."
