Reaffirming the validity of inkjet printers in the small and medium business space, Tarsus Technologies has announced the availability of the new HP Deskjet 6543 colour inkjet printer. The 6543 is designed to offer laser comparable quality and speed, with the versatility needed to print photo-quality output.
"The Deskjet 6543 represents an interesting mix of business and consumer printing functionality. It brings 30ppm mono and 20ppm colour printing performance to the SME user at a 1 200dpi quality level in plain black text and 4 800 x 1 200dpi quality level in colour," says Drikus van der Walt, HP IPG product manager at Tarsus Technologies.
The 6543 also goes a long way to reducing print costs normally associated with older inkjet technology. "By using the high-capacity black print cartridge, users can both minimise cartridge changes and the costs associated with replacing consumables. Costs can then further be reduced by introducing two-sided printing through the addition of an optional duplexing unit," Van der Walt says.
A feature that serves two purposes, namely the controlling of print costs and ease of use, is the quality and speed configuration panel located on the front of the unit. "This combined with redesigned printer software, ensures that the most required functionality is easily accessible and configurable."
"HP clearly had convenience top of mind when it designed the 6543. Users can also benefit from an additional second paper tray, which is important if the business prints a fair amount of digital photos or flyers on custom paper stock," Van der Walt says.
Notebook users will also find a second USB port located on the front of the unit, integral for quick set-up printing, especially if they`re used to spending a great deal of time being mobile.
"Overall, the Deskjet 6543 is a good option for the SME market, offering functionality not normally included with inkjet printers, as well as the consumable saving measures which are valuable in keeping costs at a minimum. Offering support for both the Mac and Windows environments, it`s no surprise that the 6543 is already a firm favourite in the SME market," Van der Walt concludes.
