The launch of a new notebook from Hewlett Packard has opened up new horizons for SME mobile users. Dubbed the HP Omnibook xt6050, this modular and highly portable notebook is perfect for keeping SME mobile users in business, both on and off the road.
According to Margie Adam, HP PC and notebook product manager at local HP distributor Axiz, the xt6050 has a flexible, expandable design that allows users to keep up with their changing business needs. "The 6050 has the same module options as the HP 6100, HP Omnibook 500 and Omnibook 510, which means that devices such as CD-WRITERS can be shared easily amongst several users," she says. "In addition, the xt6050 weighs only 2.2kg, making it exceptionally portable and perfect for people who travel and are constantly on the road."
Optional accessories include CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW, combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW, second hard disk, 250-MB Zip, LS-240, and floppy disk drive. In addition, the notebook has infrared capabilities, allowing users to synchronise their PDA`s or to print wirelessly where this technology is available.
The notebook comes with the options of either a Mobile Intel(r) Pentium(r) III Processor-M or Mobile Intel Celeron(tm) processor, and has up to four hours of battery life. With a built-in modem and LAN capabilities, the xt6050 allows for connectivity anywhere and anytime.
"In order to further customise the Omnibook xt6050, the notebook comes with software options that suit the user," says Adam. "These include a choice of Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional, with Windows 2000 on a recovery CD."
In its standalone version, the xt6050 is only 36mm thick, and has a front-loading module base to allow users to easily access their media.
Hardware, battery, and accessories come with a one-year, worldwide limited warranty. A full range of flexible, global warranty extensions and support upgrades are also available.
