New Jersey to rethink online gaming
Press of Atlantic City reports.
The rush to change New Jersey regulations follows a 23 December ruling by the US Department of Justice that removes obstructions to states pursuing online gaming. Also, the state is trying to catch up to Nevada, which established its own rules for online gaming on 22 December.
According to CardPlayer, New Jersey senator Raymond Lesniak has tried to push the online gaming measure through before. In early 2011, he was able to get his bill to the governor's desk, but governor Chris Christie vetoed it.
A spokesman for the governor reportedly could not say what he would do if the bill, which was re-introduced to the legislature in August, was sent to him again.
“We can be the Silicon Valley of Internet gaming,” Politico.com quotes Lesniak as saying.
“It's the wave of the future. It's going to come, and we can be in the lead on it.”
