Logitech has announced two additions to its Web camera range, which allow communication via video instant messaging and video e-mail.
The QuickCam Pro 4000 and QuickCam Zoom feature a software enabled digital zoom function allowing users to pan, tilt and zoom up to five times the normal viewing size. Both models include a built-in microphone.
QuickCam Pro 4000 lets users capture 1.3 megapixel still images and 640x480 video with its high quality VGA CCD sensor. It features a convenient snapshot button. It also ships with MGI VideoWave and PhotoSuite software for studio-quality PC video and image editing.
With its fresh new look, QuickCam Zoom delivers high quality, true VGA (640x480) still pictures and videos. Logitech ImageStudio software is included with both QuickCam Pro 4000 and QuickCam Zoom. This software includes:
* Logitech IM Video Companion (enabling live video with MSN Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger);
* Live video instant messaging with Yahoo! Messenger;
* One-click video e-mail;
* Fun animation software for creating time-lapse and stop-motion movies;
* Video broadcasting;
* Web album creator;
* Web caming software; and
* Motion detection software.
The cameras work with Windows 98 and higher platforms, as well as Macintosh OS 9.
