In line with its strategy to take advantage of the rapid move towards "virtual workplaces", Citrix launched its newest version of Citrix MetaFrame XP for Windows, Feature Release 2, at the Citrix iForum 2002 in Midrand yesterday.
[VIDEO]The inaugural Citrix iForum, evolved from the Citrix SimplicITy Server-based Computing Conference, was staged at Vodaworld. Addressing about 800 delegates at the event, Dave Jones, senior VP of corporate marketing and development at Citrix Systems, said the Citrix product suite was all about access.
"Our business is about providing access to applications, processes, information and people anytime, from anywhere and on any device. Change is a constant. We help organisations to manage that change, allowing companies to choose the best of breed applications or devices, to allow people to access any device, any network, any application, any time."
[VIDEO]Citrix says the new feature release of Citrix`s application server product, Citrix MetaFrame XP for Windows, Feature Release 2, offers three tailored solutions that deliver the most powerful platform for application delivery and management specifically optimised for the Internet and designed to add maximum value to Microsoft Windows 2000 investments. Citrix MetaFrame XP provides the power to centrally configure and manage servers and server farms anywhere - regardless of geography - with robust system management capabilities that can be integrated with third-party network management solutions.
With Citrix`s NFuse Classic and Enterprise Services for NFuse integrated into MetaFrame XP, organisations can bridge the worlds of Windows and the Web, and provide the same user experience for the entire organisation. Businesses are empowered with the ability to deliver any application to a single portal view without rewriting code.
Citrix MetaFrame XP enables seamless application access from PCs, Macintosh computers, Unix and Linux workstations, laptops, wireless devices and other network appliances, meaning fewer hardware roadblocks and far less technology churn.
Citrix also recently launched a new class of product - an access portal called NfuseElite - which allows companies to integrate and publish interactive applications into a standard Web browser, defining the applications users need and automatically publishing the application on the Web portal to a defined user group.
