New name for QDD

Q Distribution (QDD) has announced a name change to Comztek. This follows the partial management buyout from PQ Africa and a 50% acquisition by Mustek.

Comztek MD Paul Conradie said the new name should remove all perceptions of a close association with PQ Networks and with the PQ Africa group.

"The association caused a number of large solution resellers to avoid QDD as a distributor, because of a perceived close association with PQ Networks, which is also an end-user supplier," he explained.

"The new name introduces a new era in the company`s history, which is now part of the Mustek group and which is fully focused in the distribution market," he said.

"Comztek will be the vehicle to extend our image in the market, differentiating ourselves from other distributors in providing added value services not available from most other distributors," said Conradie. "We will build on these services and provide resellers with the necessary tools to assist in their success, backed by the Mustek group".

Leen van der Bijl, a founding member of Q Data and chairman of QDD, has left PQ Africa and will be chairman of Comztek as of 1 January 2000.
