New Netgear adapter kit from Duxbury Networking

Johannesburg, 02 Nov 2011

A new adapter kit designed to extend Internet access to any electrical outlet, linking HDTVs, DVRs, PCs and game consoles to a home network and the Internet, has been released by Duxbury Networking.

The Netgear Powerline AV 200 Nano Adapter Kit offers plug-and-play set-up without the need to configure or install software. With speeds up to 200Mbps, it enables Internet applications such as multiplayer online gaming.

Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking, says Powerline technology allows any ordinary 220 volt electrical outlet to be used to create a 10/100 Ethernet connection - obviating the need to run additional network cables, thus lowering the overall cost to deploy a high-speed network in the home.

“The popularity of always-on infrastructures is driving this technology as is the rapid growth in connected AV devices - and the high speeds and reliability required to support them,” he says.

A key feature of the Netgear Powerline AV 200 Nano Adapter Kit includes 'push-and-secure' functionality, which secures the network connection at the touch of a button.

The unit also includes a function that automatically tests the connection at any electrical outlet to ensure the highest possible performance, while a noise filtering socket for use with additional devices is provided.
