Infrastructure comes before e-business "i before e", that`s the message behind the launch of Asiakon SA (Pty) Ltd, a significant new entrant in the IT networking and communications field.
As a part of an international organisation with headquarters in Mainland China from which best-of-breed products are identified and sourced, Asiakon will provide a wide range of network cable and related products to distributors, corporations and government agencies in SA and the rest of Africa.
Included in the product mix that Asiakon SA brings to the South African and African market are a comprehensive range of internationally approved data cable and related active and passive components including:
. Copper data Cable - CAT 5; CAT 5e; CAT 6
. Fibre optic cable
. Hubs, switches, repeaters and other active components
. Flyleads, patch panels, and other passive components
Dilley Naidoo, Managing Director of Asiakon South Africa, says: "Central to our strategy is our belief that in the African context, Infrastructure comes before e-business ("i" before "e"). We strongly support the development of infrastructure and jobs by procuring and supplying products for technologically advanced network solutions.
"We concentrate on the five closely linked aspects of business on which our success depends, these being: technological leadership; leading products; alliances with our Australasian-based manufacturers and suppliers for the procurement of technology and distribution; the international scale and scope of the products we offer; and finally, the empowerment of communities, development of skills and the creation of jobs through services pertaining to the installation and distribution of our products.
"We will be responsible for the marketing, sales and supply of our cable and network infrastructure products, but we will not be involved in the fulfilment of any orders. We will rather provide business empowerment opportunities to emerging installation operators.
"Our diverse and dependable supply network enables us to provide customers with the most advanced products in the field of networking infrastructure. We aim to build our business base through: delivering high-quality service; getting new products and services to market quickly; innovation in all areas; and most importantly through cost-efficiency."
Asiakon SA is a member of Makulu Consolidated Holdings, with black South Africans owning 60% of the equity in Asiakon SA. Both the company Chairman and the Managing Director are included within this group. Asiakon SA holds a 50% stake in Asiakon Mainland China.
Asiakon`s shareholding alliances with Asiakon Taiwan and Asiakon Mainland China, strengthens and expands Asiakon`s position in the existing sub-Saharan networking market. This affiliation further enhances Asiakon`s network of suppliers and distributors, and allows Asiakon SA to provide the end-user with the best product range and prices.
Moss Leoka, Chairman of Asiakon SA, says: "Makulu is strategically positioned and adopts a unilateral approach to its interests in the telecommunications and industrial markets. Makulu adds strength to Asiakon SA`s market presence. Through Makulu, we intend to serve all growth market segments across Africa, particularly as Makulu provides the financial backing and management expertise we require for Asiakon SA to effectively compete and strengthen our position in the market. We envisage offering a wide range of services linked to our products and applications. These services will include installation of networks through our SMME partners and the cost-effective distribution of our products."
Asiakon SA has a number of initiatives for Black Economic Empowerment. Asiakon SA has identified black small, medium and micro-enterprises (SMMEs) capable of installing networks and cable, with a view to creating opportunities for these enterprises.
"This model is not only important to our business," says Leoka, "it is also vitally important for SA that models of this nature are implemented to further the national goals of empowerment and job creation. It is our intention to play an on-going meaningful role as an outstanding corporate citizen."
