Worldwide continuous availability heavyweight Stratus Technologies has announced the signature of a new partner agreement with local transaction switching and payment-focused consulting house, e*Transfer Systems.
The agreement sees e*Transfer with immediate effect becoming authorised to sell and support Avance, Stratus' software-based high availability solution that is designed for customers with a requirement for high availability.
Pieter van der Merwe, availability solutions architect at Stratus Technologies, says Stratus has been a household name in the continuous availability space for three decades now.
“Avance is an affordable software solution extending our market reach in providing high availability to branch-level applications running on standard Intel servers,” he says.
“High availability is a far bigger market than that of the continuous availability market, and this allows Stratus to provide end-to-end availability solutions,” he says.
“From the working relationship we've already forged with e*Transfer, we know it has sound relationships with a healthy-sized customer base with a real need for improved availability. e*Transfer has positioned itself as a trusted advisor in the transaction switching and payments environment, and is both a small and agile company to chase new opportunities passionately.
“e*Transfer's customers are small to mid-sized companies with a strong requirement for increasing the uptime of their applications,” Van der Merwe says.
Cliff Nkuna, COO of e*Transfer, says his company has over 14 years of experience in the software market, and with Stratus positioning Avance as a high availability software solution, the synergies between the two companies became apparent leading to the conclusion of this partnership.
“The customers we serve are all too familiar with high-end availability solutions that are deployed in data centres for core business systems. These solutions typically support mission-critical systems such as ERP applications, transaction switching and payment solutions. For these kinds of customers, Stratus' ftServer range of constant availability solutions are the preferred manner of achieving those levels of availability,” Nkuna says.
“However, there is a gap that exists in awarding high levels of availability for other essential applications that co-exist with these core business systems. What the market isn't aware of is that Avance is an affordable software solution aimed at improving availability for the branch-level essential systems.
Nkuna adds that Avance can also be used to improve the uptime of a company that's already making use of Stratus' continuous availability solutions in the data centre. This is accomplished by improving the remote and branch-level availability using Avance.
