Axent Technologies has introduced PowerVPN, a VPN solution with one-step connect and configure installation, centralised management, and a new personal firewall to deliver unprecedented security and ease of use to help companies protect their continuously connected Internet workforce.
The new PowerVPN extends its proxy-level security which scans all traffic at the application level to deliver complete control over Internet traffic, with a new personal firewall that gives maximum protection to "always-on" connections like cable and DSL modems popular with telecommuters.
This latest release looks set to make it easy for companies to securely deploy extranets via "one-step connect and configure" remote installation that updates PowerVPN client policies, helping time-constrained administrators provide VPN solutions for users across the enterprise.
"Today`s companies are racing to put as much as possible on the Web and yet need to implement a high level of security for open VPN networks," says Barry Cioe, product manager for Axent. "The PowerVPN software product provides top-notch security and the flexibility to quickly deploy or expand a VPN solution with any existing firewall, making it possible for companies to win the race to the Web, reduce online access and management costs, and implement the right level of e-business security."
PowerVPN streamlines the routine deployment and administration of fast-growing mobile workforces with centralised policy management and automatic, invisible downloads of new security policies to users. Administrators can also leverage the proxy-secured VPN server to specify security policies that filter encrypted network traffic through application proxies, further ensuring data integrity and authenticity.
The firewall-independent PowerVPN Server also works with any firewall and supports a wide range of protocols and standards to streamline installation, management and interoperability. Standards supported include LDAP and NT Domain; X.509 PKI support for digital certificates; International Computer Security Association (ICSA) certification; full IPSec/IKE (Internet Key Exchange) support that lets the PowerVPN securely connect with other certified VPN solutions.
PowerVPN, including PowerVPN Server and free RaptorMobile client, ship at the end of February for the Windows NT, Windows 95 and 98 platforms, with a starting price of $1 995 for PowerVPN.
