Apex Cash Control Solutions (Apex CCS) recently expanded its range of already popular touch-screen solutions for the point of sale (PoS) and information kiosk markets.
It introduces several new solutions in the LCD category: a 30-inch wall-mount liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor, a 17-inch kiosk-mount type and an `all-in-one` integrated 12.1-inch touch-screen PoS system that incorporates a central processing unit (CPU) on the motherboard. The new products cost substantially less than competitive solutions, ensuring affordability while maintaining performance.
The new range consists of the GM, PM, IM and IT series of products. The top-of-the-line GM30 product is a 30-inch LCD touch solution based on the Philips 30-inch LCD display. Its touch-screen feature is based on ELO Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology. SAW touch technology is employed as most other technologies will not perform adequately with the large screen size. SAW maintains overall accuracy and sensitivity with these large screen sizes. This is a powerful combination, since both products are high quality branded products from reliable sources. The GM30 is mounted in a solid metal frame with a VESA wall mount facility.
The PM series in the line up include units with Video Electronics Standards (VESA) wall-mount options in three different sizes: 10.4-inch, 12.1-inch and 15-inch versions.
The IM series is specifically designed for use in kiosk environments and is initially available in 15-inch and 17-inch versions to be followed by a 19-inch model. The IM units are mounted in a solid metal frame. The first units have already been deployed at some of the air traffic control towers at some of the airports around the country. To add to this range of touch-screen solutions, the IT120 comprises an all-in-one LCD touch system with integrated PC, based on a cool running low power central processing unit (CPU). This system is extremely compact and is expected to become a `best-seller` in POS environments.
Says Peter Held, managing director of Apex CCS: "Prior to the introduction of LCD monitors, cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors were used in PoS or information kiosk environments and ATMs. But often their bulkiness and propensity to generate heat made them unsuitable for these applications. In addition, many CRT manufacturers will be discontinuing 15-inch CRT touch screen solutions from their offerings over the following year or two. This means PoS installations will need to be based on an LCD solution, since a bulky 17-inch CRT is just is not practical in a PoS environment. LCD monitors are a better choice but have, until now, been significantly more costly. The latest addition to our line of touch-screen LCD monitors delivers an affordable solution to a variety of markets, including PoS, the gaming industry, information kiosks and industrial applications."
"The market migration from CRT to LCD has increased the demand for affordable touch-screen LCD monitors and all-in-one PoS solutions," Held concludes. "Apex CCS understands the demands of PoS and related environments and is meeting those needs through the continual expansion of our product line."
