Tarsus Technologies has announced the availability of the new range of Hewlett-PackardScanJet professional scanners.

"The improved ScanJet range provides the ideal solution for all scanning needs, from the SJ3400C which is ideal for home scanning, to the SJ5370C which delivers crisp, high resolution images for desktop publishing and graphic design," says Traci Maynard, product manager for Hewlett-Packard peripherals at Tarsus.

Maynard explains that Hewlett-Packard has designed the new range with simplicity and ease of use in mind, with each machine featuring one-touch controls for the most popular scanning tasks. The ScanJet SJ3400C replaces HP`s SJ3200C and brings 36-bit scanning at 600 dots per inch (dpi) to the home.

The SJ5370C has been designed with the imaging professional in mind, yet retains the simplicity of its cousins. It delivers 42-bit scans at an optical resolution of 1200dpi, scans multiple negative strips and up to four 35mm slides at once. Included is an active transparency adapter, which allows scanning of up to 12.7x12.7cm transparencies.

The SJ5370C comes with Corel Print Office`s 2000 for easy image editing, as well as HP`s Scan-to-Web that makes uploading images directly to a chosen Web destination as simple as entering the URL and hitting the scan button. It can also scan multi-page documents and attach them as a single file to e-mails and faxes.

"With the addition of the optional 25 page document feeder, the SJ5370C supports unattended scanning of multiple pages," explains Maynard.

"These scanners are supplied with optical character recognition software with multiple language support, allowing the conversion of hard-copy documents into editable, electronic files in an instant."
