Netchoice has launched an independent online comparative guide to products - the first of a host of new -based consumer-oriented financial services.

Netchoice MD Grant Sieff says the new site, Bankmonitor, offers consumers insights into the costs of various products and services across all and financial services institutions.

The site features a comprehensive range of institutions and products, including home loans, vehicle finance, deposits, cheque accounts, credit cards, personal loans, interest on notice and fixed deposits.

"A special news service relating to the content as well as information and frequently asked questions regarding banking services, an online calculator, latest products and contact information for each bank is provided on the site," says Sieff.

The frequently asked questions include: "What happens when you can`t meet your home loan repayments any longer?" "Is property a good investment?"; and "How do I wake up to cheque fraud?"

Sieff says the information provided on the site is completely independent and no one is favoured above others.

Netchoice, a partner of Independent Online, describes itself as a company which develops, markets and operates an "inform, compare and choose" model.

The Bankmonitor site is to be followed by Insurancemonitor, which will provide information on insurance products.

Sieff says a full financial services portal is also in the pipeline.
