NetXactics, local distributor for Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses from spam and viruses, has announced the release of Sophos`s consolidated anti-spam and anti-virus solution, PureMessage 4.5.
Specifically designed to meet the requirements of large organisations, PureMessage combines Sophos`s industry-leading virus and spam protection, filtering millions of messages per day. This unprecedented scalability, plus its multiple-language message processing, makes PureMessage ideally suited for organisations with multiple-server deployments.
In a recent Sophos poll of over 4 400 companies*, 89.4% of respondents representing large companies indicated that employers have a duty to protect their staff from unsolicited, offensive e-mail. With a growing reliance on e-mail, companies are increasingly finding that a scalable anti-spam solution, that is easy-to-administer, is required.
Integrating with enterprise-class email systems, PureMessage is a centrally managed anti-virus and anti-spam solution, enabling network managers to deploy company-wide messaging policies quickly and easily.
"Integrated messaging security is more critical than ever. The need to protect inbound and outbound communication spans the organisation, with issues ranging from productivity loss and resource consumption to regulatory compliance and liability exposure," said Christian Christiansen, program vice-president security products and infrastructure, IDC. "PureMessage`s ability to accurately scan substantial volumes of e-mail and other messaging applications for confidential data, inappropriate content, intellectual property, malicious code, and unsolicited e-mail delivers the range of capabilities necessary for securing the enterprise."
With flexible spam handling options, PureMessage offers companies greater control of their e-mail traffic. It enables individual organisations to set various actions based on the likelihood that messages are spam, including marking, deleting, quarantining and delivering messages. In addition to centrally managed e-mail filtering, this new release of PureMessage allows end-users to play an active role in the monitoring of their individual messages. Optional interfaces facilitate personal filtering preferences, and end-users have real-time access to their quarantined messages.
"PureMessage fuses together anti-spam, anti-virus and policy enforcement technology in one centrally managed solution, making email monitoring and management for large enterprises simpler," said Mike Scott, Network Manager at James Paget Healthcare NHS Trust. "It offers multiple-language message processing and user interfaces which can be easily localised. As it is scalable to handle millions of messages each day, it`s ideal for the diverse needs of large businesses globally."
PureMessage`s proprietary anti-spam technology performs:
* Content scanning to defend against spam messages that are disguised as legitimate e-mail.
* Message analysis to look for thousands of spam indicators, such as genotype campaign analysis and structure heuristics.
* Asset tracking to evaluate message source and destination locations for spammer activity.
In addition, PureMessage scans all inbound and outbound e-mail traffic at the gateway for viruses, Trojans and other malicious code.
"The spam problem is bigger than ever. Spammers are adopting new techniques, ensuring spam bypasses traditional filters," said Brett Myroff, CEO of NetXactics. "Sophos`s new PureMessage solution helps overcome these problems by delivering advanced spam protection, ideally suited for the corporate enterprise."
